POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking an experienced Front-End Engineer to develop web applications who will design, test structure, prototype, debug, manage workflows & stay current with technologies. This exceptional individual will coordinate and collaborate with cross functional teams to assure success of the department.

The role will participate in the development of novel software & digital assets, via SDLC & Agile/Scrum with the entire department of Product, Engineering, Architecture, Compliance, Quality & Configuration.

 

REQUIRMENTS:

High Level Concepts/Technologies with Documentation:

The ideal candidate will have expertise in the following concepts & technologies:

  • React.js, React Native,Next.js.
  • Limited exposure to Angular is a plus.
  • ***RPA e.g. UI/Path, interest in creating robots.
  • Concerning back-end technology exposure: Node.JS, SQL, Firebase, Mongo, Java.
  • Adobe Products/UI/UX principles.
  • Maintain and improve websites & applications.
  • Optimize applications for maximum speed.
  • Design mobile-based features.
  • Collaborate with back-end developers and web designers to improve usability.
  • Get feedback from, and build solutions for, users and customers.
  • Write functional requirement documents and guides.
  • Create quality mockups and prototypes.
  • Help back-end developers with coding and troubleshooting.
  • Ensure high quality graphic standards and brand consistency.
  • Stay up-to-date on emerging technologies.

A mastery of documentation skills is a primary requirement for every role in the Application Development Department:

  • Unit testing.
  • Code commenting.
  • Integrations: F.E. integrations, API Integrations (Swagger)
  • Pattern libraries, Application architecture, Folder Structure, Object explanations, Modules & routes.
  • Product explanations & Technology lists.
  • FAQ, Dev Wiki.

Responsibilities, Expectations & Qualifications:

Architecture:

  •  Executes creative software solutions, design, development, & technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems. In other words, find efficient solutions to the right problems.
  • Library: designs, develops, tests, & maintains complex UI features & reusable components that are responsive & work across multiple modern browsers, continually improving UI quality & performance.
  • Problem-solving attitude.

Maintenance:

  • Abide by a strict adherence to code quality, readability, collaboration & growth.
  • Establish & enforce coding standards with a single style of code & ongoing markdown file department wide.
  • Document chosen patterns, patterns change control processes.
  • Self-documenting code.
  • Incremental Refactoring in order to evaluate each feature with the new pattern needed to execute & follow up with incremental refactoring for previous features to slowly refactor patterns over the entire project & rollout across the department.
  • Participates in evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, & internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, & applicability for use within existing systems & information architecture, e.g. performs code reviews.
  • Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness & us of new & leading-edge technologies.

Agile/Scrum:

  • Reviews requirements & technical documents, understands application features, ensures testing is completed & issues are documented.
  • Participate in the SCRUM process & UX design sessions. Collaborates with the scrum team, including Product Owners, Product Analysts, DevManagers, Business Analysts, Back-end Engineers, QA Engineers, UI/UX Specialists & others, to design & implement all facets of application development, e.g. UI, APIs, Features, Hotfixes, etc.
  • Collaborative team spirit in order to work professionally & harmoniously with team & coworkers.
  • Strong written & verbal communication skills.

Development:

  • Develops secure high-quality production code, & reviews & debugs code written by others.
  • Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications & systems.
  • Follows a strict adherence to coding patterns.
  • Triage end user bugs. Identify, document thoroughly & track bugs.
  • Familiarity with modern Front-end technologies, JS frameworks, solid understanding of Agile methodologies such as CI/CD, application resiliency & security.
  • Sense of urgency.
  • Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing & operational stability, using different mocking solutions to perform Front-end testing in isolation.
  • Strengths in optimizing a website for accessibility standards.

Tools:

  • To name a few: AWS, Git & Github, Elastic Search/Indexing, React, Next.js, Bootstrap, Google Fonts, Figma, Chrome DevTools, Jmeter, Chrom Lighthouse.
  • Experience in developing, debugging, & maintaining code in an enterprise environment with one or more modern programming languages & database querying languages.
  • Exposure to cloud technologies, automation technologies & frameworks & reporting tools.

Required Qualifications:

Formal/OTJ training or certification on software engineering concepts & applied experience.

  • 4+ years of professional software development experience, web applications, including team collaboration & code repository (GitHub).
  • 3+ years of programming with one or more software programming language experience preferably React.js, React Native or Next.js (Next.js 13.4, React 18 & React Native 0.7+ or newer.)
  • 2+ years of active engagement in design or architecture (design patterns, reliability, & scaling) of new & existing systems experience using hosting services (AWS).
  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team.
  • 4+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, unit & integration testing, & operations experience.
  • Mobile Application Development (Objective C, Swift, Java, Flutter, Ionic, or other cross platform framework).
  • Speed/Accessibility optimization, web application security & OWASP Top 10.
  • SQL & NoSQL databases.
  • Agile methodologies (Kanban/SCRUM) & the Spec/Waterfall approach.
  • AWS, GCP & Azure.
  • Containerization, Docker.
  •  Bachelor’s: BS\BA in Information Systems, Computer Science or technical training equivalent or an equivalent in education & experience preferred. In addition, unique backgrounds will be considered.
  • Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers.
  • Strong practical understanding of Computer Science fundamentals in data structures, algorithm design, problem solving, & complexity analysis.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.

Note: The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range & represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity & location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials & experience of the candidate; & other conditions of employment.

Compensation:

Base Pay Range: $95,000.00 – $110,000.00 per year
